PATools Auto Numbering
PATools Auto Numbering is a workbook that contains all the
mechanics required for integrating with your worksheets and templates to give
you the facility to number consecutive documents automatically within a
controlled environment. It will operate on a network or stand-alone basis, and
for either a single user or multiple users. The workbook operates in Microsoft® Excel®
97 software
or later.
The workbook contains one sheet with 6 buttons on it, plus hidden programming
that provides the mechanics.
When you first open the workbook it will check whether this is a new
installation or not. If it is, it will prompt you for various settings. Apart
from choosing your own password you can run it fully to start with using the
default settings. Once you become familiar with the tool you can alter these
settings later.
The tool works by creating a data file which stores (securely) the most recent
number allocated. You specify where this file is to be stored. From this file
your master document can then import the next consecutive number to use.
Your master document (eg an invoice, purchase order, expenses claim form,
capital expenditure form, etc) can be created by you as you wish or can be
automatically copied into the PATools workbook from an existing worksheet that you have
already created. You can then rename the PATools file to a name and location of
your choosing.
You can set up various options including
-
automatic import of the next number when you open the file -
yes / no
-
the location of the cell to inherit the number
-
the format of the number and text can be added in front of
the number, or no text (and you can of course format the cell itself)
-
a confirmation message of the number imported - yes / no
-
an automatic save and close facility to store your saved
documents in a folder you choose
with the file name you select and incorporating the number imported -
yes / no
-
you can set or reset the counter (via password security) to
any number you choose
-
the flexibility to use this for any number of documents
(subject to purchasing the required licenses)
-
the flexibility to use this for either opening and editing
the same document each time or as a clean template file
Why not try it out for FREE and see if it works for you. You can set up your
documents and try it out - on an evaluation basis you get unlimited use, except
that it will not import numbers above 30 and you get a reminder message of this
URL when you import each time. If you then choose to purchase a license you can
license the document you have already created and start using it immediately
without any further work needed.
Important Note: You will not be able to use any
other macros in a workbook using PATools Auto Numbering. If you need to combine
your macros we can prepare a workbook for you - please contact

Licenses are issued per end-user per workbook* and have no time
restriction or expiry
* You must purchase a different license / set of licenses for each
workbook you intend to use as a licensed master document eg to use this for an Invoice and a Purchase Order, you would need 2 licenses. For each of these workbooks you must purchase a license for each end-user who will be accessing the workbook, so
for 2 users to use both workbooks you would need 4 licenses. The number of end-users is defined as the number of people that will be
using a workbook that incorporates any part of this software.
